Priyanganie is the latest addition to the talented bunch of artists in Brisbane. She is a 'B' grade artist of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Having studied music under Dr Premadasa Mudunkotuwa at the Bhathkande Sangeeth Vidyalaya and Visharada Manjula Vithanage at the 'Kalabhoomi', she completed her diploma in Music in 1996.
Priyanganie began her career as a young artist of SLBC at the age of 14. She appeared in various SLBC children's programs including 'Kanitu Sarasaviya ', 'Lama Mandapaya ', 'Nirmana Charika' , and 'Sanda Kalpana' during late 80's. Her passion for singing and lyrics writing grew during her time as a young artist. She has written more than 13 songs for Rupavahinie's 'Udara' and 'Lama Gee' programs. In 1991, she appeared in a special Udara program, with the guest artist late Malinie Bulathsinghala.
Priyanganie was admitted to the Sri Lanka Law College in 1993. During her time at the Sri Lanka Law College, she won all the lyrics writing competitions held by the Law College Arts Circle. She was the first law student to write lyrics for Law College 'Bhakti' gee. In 1997, Priyanganie won lyrics competition held by the SLBC and the Ministry of Justice and the winning song was included in 'Parevi Piyapath' a song collection dedicated to peace in SL. The song was titled 'ruduru yudabima' and it was sung by veteran singer Edward Jayakody.
While studying at the Sri Lanka Law College Priyanganie also won singing competitions and performed at musical shows. After becoming a lawyer, she performed at 'Neethi Ranga' 1997 at the tower hall Maradana. She performed at 'Prathiba' a local Sri Lankan talent show in 2007. She recorded two songs in April 2009. She wrote lyrics for the duet song titled 'Pongal Bathak' which she sang with Sunil Edirisinghe. Music was by Rohana Dharmakeerthi.
Priyanganie is a Law graduate of the Queensland University of Technology. She will undertake her graduate diploma in legal practice this year to become a solicitor in Queensland.
