General Secretary of the United National Party Tissa Attanayake said the UNP political affairs Committee has empowered its Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, to take all necessary steps and decisions to form a broader alliance with other political parties with a view to breaking the backbone of this Government’s undemocratic acts and dictatorial trends.

The Government is very clever in its policy of ‘united we fall divided we rule’; so, it always tries not to allow other parties to be united.

The UNP cannot afford to fall into the traps of the Government, which is anxious to fish in troubled waters, he added.
