Chamber
of Construction Industry Sri Lanka (CCI) in its capacity
as the accredited representative of the domestic construction
industry will host a seminar on Energy Sector, the third
in a series of infrastructure related seminars having held
similar fora on Management of Ocean Resources in the month
of June 2008 and a seminar on Transport Infrastructure on
26th Aug. 2008.
Sri
Lanka needs increasing energy supplies at affordable costs
to sustain economic growth and development. Energy at affordable
rates as energy is a key building block for sustaining Sri
Lanka’s socio economic development.
Chamber
recognizes that there is a need for energy sector reforms
and the importance of increased access to reliable and affordable
energy services. This forum is expected to catalyze a vigorous
debate on the present institutional framework and the critical
importance of environmentally sustainable energy systems
necessitating technological breakthroughs which can bring
about a paradigm shift in the way we extract, produce, deliver
and use energy.
