Sri Lanka Air Force carried out two air strikes targeting LTTE forward defences in the Nachchikudha area this afternoon (Sept 1).

Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara speaking to defence.lk said that the fighter jets carried out the first of the two air strikes targeting an LTTE stronghold in the North of Nachchikudha area at 1.45 PM. The other air raid was carried out by MI 24 helicopters around 2 PM, targeting the LTTE forward defence in the East of Nachchikudha area, he added.

He further said that the both air raids were successful.
