26.9.2008

'Lanka-e-News' London reporter says that a mob has attacked Kingsbury temple in London yesterday (26) damaging door and widow panes and two vehicles parked in the premises after President Mahinda Rajapakse visited the temple on his way to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly.

Our reporter says that the monks residing in the temple have identified two persons as they fled after breaking several glasses by attacking with an iron rod and the monks say they are LTTE sympathizers.
The President visited this temple on September 20 and the chief prelate of UK Glayaye Piyadassi Thero invoked blessings to him.

The attack has taken place around 1.35 AM. The damage caused to vehicles is estimated around 25,000 pounds. No monk residing in the temple has been harmed. A complaint has been lodged in Metropolitan police and an investigation is underway.

Our London reporter says that three previous times as well the LTTE associates pulled down the lion’s flag hoisted in the temple.
