The
Sri Lankan media spokesman on national security Minister
keheliya Rambukwella's statement at a London press conference
that certain corrupt politicians of Western world are in
the payrolls of the LTTE, has made shockwaves among the
Labor Party politicians.
At
this press conference held on September 22 parallel to the
British Labor Party annual convention, Minister Rambukwella
made an extra attempt to prove that LTTE had links with
Al-Quida.
The
Minister pointed out that there are large numbers of Tamils
in some constituencies of Western countries. Some corrupt
politicians in the Western world are in LTTE's payrolls
and they support LTTE terrorism, he said.
It
is understood that the Minister summoned the press conference
urgently to answer the lobbying of some pro-LTTE sections
against Sri Lanka government at the Labor Party congress.
Sen Kandaiah representing British Tamils said before 10,000
party members that Sri Lanka state is violating human rights
of Tamils. He asked from the party to consider the violence
and human rights violations against Tamils in Sri Lanka
to be considered as an alarming sign.
The Labor Party congress was broadcast by BBC with potential
of creating a great impact on people.
UK
Foreign Minister David Miliband and other orators stressed
the ethical duty of UK regarding the other countries of
the world and Sen Kandaiah’s speech on Sri Lankan
Tamils was also in that line of thinking. He made this speech
as a number of Ministers, EU MPs and representatives of
international organizations were on the stage.
Minister Rambukwella's press conference has been understood
as a reply to Kandiah's speech. The Minister pointed out
that Al-Qaida obtained technology for massive bombs like
Islamabad Marriott hotel explosion from LTTE resembling
it to 1996 Colombo Central bank bomb. He further guessed
that the suicide kit was also introduced to Al-Qaida by
LTTE.
