Minister
Maithripala Sirisena says the government programme
to defeat the LTTE is in progress successfully.
He stressed that speculations spread by some pro-LTTE organisations
could not stopped this procedure. He pointed out that the
government’s efforts to defeat terrorism unleashed
by the LTTE have won a broad international support. All
arrangements have been made to facilitate persons displaced
due to ongoing humanitarian operations in the north, a situation
which is inevitable in a war.
Pro-LTTE organisations have produced inaccurate statistics
on the displacement of persons.
Making a special statement in parliament on Tuesday , Minister
Maithripala Sirisena said the government will produce accurate
detail list on displaced persons. He made this statement
in reply to a question raised by MP Anura Kumara
Dissanayake.
Minister
A.H.M. Fowzie requested the opposition not to gain
petty political advantages by highlighting the issue of
lowered fuel prices in the global market.
He said fuel prices in the local market were not increased
when the prices of fuel in the world market were increased
in the last few months. Therefore, the government incurred
a heavy loss during the period from January to May. Opposition
leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and MP Joseph
Michael Perera urged that the public should be
given the advantage of lowered fuel prices in the global
market.
MP
Wimal Weerawansa who made a special statement at
the opening of the sitting pointed out several practical
problems in the circular issued pertaining to the admission
of children to grade one in schools.
