Air force MI-24 helicopter gun-ships launched effective air assaults at 2 LTTE strong-points located 3km Northwest of Vannerikkulama in Kilinochchi, Friday (Sep 19), at around 7.45 p.m.

According to Air force sources, the targets were taken in support of the advancing troops of the 58 Division.

Meanwhile, Air Force personnel engaged in search operations in general area Kandalkadu, Trincomalee have reportedly uncovered a haul of military items yesterday.

Following items were found in the search operation, sources said.

*82mm mortar bombs- 11
*Charges - 11
*Fuses -11
*Hand grenades-30
*12kg claymore mine- 01
*Anti-air craft machine gun-03
*12.7mm ammunition rounds- 225
