GOCF and EU conduct Art Exhibition of disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka

Gods Own Children Foundation with the support of the European Union conduct Disadvantaged Children’s Art Exhibition themed “Needs of Children & Adults in Jaffna” in Colombo .

This exhibition will mark the International Children’s Day (1 October) and the exhibition will be held on 30 September 2008 (9.00am – 8.00pm) & 1 October 2008 (9.00am – 1.00pm), at the St. Paul’s Milagiriya Church Hall, Colombo 4.

The drawings of differently-abled children studying at special needs schools in Jaffna operated by Gods Own Children Foundation will be on display. The artwork will be auctioned to the highest bidder in order to raise funds towards establishing a resource centre for the children.

Gods Own Children Foundation is a non profit organisation currently operating three non-fee levying Special Needs Schools in the areas of Ariyalai, Point Pedro and Siththankerny in the Jaffna Peninsula for over 350 children. The Schools accommodate 2 – 16 year old children with physical disabilities as well as children with learning disabilities.

An exhibition was also held in Jaffna on 7 & 8 September 2008 at the Ilam Kalaignar Mandram Hall in Nallur, Jaffna. The exhibition was a great success with an estimated crowd of 5000 attending.
