Troops of Task Force 1 operating in the Southern Kilinochchi front dislodged several terror strongholds in the general are Vannerikulam during daytime today (Sept 14).

Troops attacked two LTTE bunkers located in the North of Vannerikulam around 6 AM. Later, intercepted terror radio transmissions confirmed 4 terrorists were killed and 3 suffered injuries in the incident. Also, 3 soldiers sustained injuries. During search operations troops found 66 AP (anti personal) mines.

Later, in the morning troops attacked 2 more LTTE bunkers located elsewhere in the same area and claimed 3 terrorists were killed and 4 wounded. Own troops suffered no casualties.

In the Vannerikulam area, troops attacked another LTTE bunker around 5 PM. A soldier sustained injuries during the incident. Terror casualties were not known.
