LTTE terrorists triggered off a claymore mine targeting a vehicle carrying Police personnel at Vellaveli, Batticaloa, Saturday (Sep 13) at around 9.40a.m. According to latest reports received, a Policeman has succumbed to injuries while 3 others were reported wounded.

The vehicle was along the Vellaveli - Batticaloa road, near the Vellaveli Bridge when the byroad claymore was detonated, security sources said.

The injured personnel were rushed to the General Hospital at Batticaloa, security sources said adding that, joint STF and Police search operations were underway in the area.
