United People's Freedom Front member Lalith Dissanayake was sworn in as a Member of Parliament from the Kegalle District at Parliament today (12).

Mr. Dissanayake filled the vacancy created by the recent resignation of JVP MP Anuruddha Polgampola.

The JVP MP, accused of involvement in human smuggling was taken to task by the party leadership for violating the organization's disciplinary code and subsequently agreed to resign his seat.
