Government of Sri Lanka refuses parliamentarian Basil Rajapakse does not attempt to bribe any UNP parliamentarian to crossover to the government.

Rejecting claims made by the Opposition Leader of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Ranjan Ramanayake Media Minister Laxman Yapa Abeyawardana said Ranjan Ramanayake made such allegations to cover up the internal crisis of the party. If restructuring of the UNP does not occur the UNP Democratic Group plans to remain independent in parliament.

According to the UNP sources leading UNP members and some parliamentarians still criticise their party leadership and asked more changes of the party.
