The veteran defence columnist and defence author, Tissa Ravindra Perera of 'Rivira' weekend newspaper presented his latest book, "Mavilaren Thoppigalata" (From Mavilaru to Thoppigala) to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka at a function held in the C.R.D Building in Colombo yesterday, September 06.

The new book describes events that led to the capture of Mavilaru and Thoppigala, giving a detailed dramatic chain of operations and challenges.

Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Nayaka Thero, the reputed historian and archaeologist presided the function.

Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka after accepting the maiden copy made a brief speech outlining the importance of media reportages at a time when the country is faced with a war situation.

The media while acting with responsibility at a time when there is a war situation in a country should use their pen for the promotion of morale of the troops. It does not mean that journalists should not probe into any malpractices or corruption in the Army, the commander noted.
