Police uncovers explosives - Dehiwala

SL Police personnel uncovered fourteen packets of C4 (Plastic) high explosives weighing about 7kg at Dehiwala in Colombo this morning (September 5). Police personnel of Dehiwala police station, acting on a civilian tip-off made this discovery around 9.40 a.m.

According to the police sources, the items were found on the grassy stretch between the coast and the railroad, at a location close to Preshers Avenue. The army bomb disposal team was also summoned to the location.

It has been also revealed that a mobile phone was also found along with the high explosive packets. Police believes that the LTTE terrorists have brought the items to improvise a bomb that activates by a mobile phone.
