Main suspect of Jaffna claymore blasts attempts to commit suicide

Army sources say that the injured LTTE cadre in the hand grenade
explosion at Inuvil, Jaffna is one of the LTTE terrorists responsible
for the Thursday's (September 27) claymore blast at Chunnakam.
Earlier, it was believed that the explosion had occurred accidentally.

troops discovered an LTTE safe house at Inuvil in the Jaffna peninsula
as a hand grenade explosion took place inside the house around
9:30 (September 28) this morning.
According
to the defence sources in Jaffna troops made this discovery as
they had gone to the location on hearing the explosion. An LTTE
cadre was found seriously injured at the location and was rushed
to the Jaffna government hospital.
The
hospital sources said that the injured has been admitted to the
Intensive care unit of Jaffna hospital. The injured LTTE cadre
has been identified as V. Vijeykumar aged 28 years.
Troops
had found a claymore mine, a triggering device and a micro pistol
inside the house. According to the available information the owner
of the house is said to be an employee at the Municipal Council
in Jaffna.
This
week alone, LTTE terrorists carried out two claymore blasts in
Jaffna killing six civilians and injuring 13 others. On Tuesday
(September 25) a female lecturer of the University of Jaffna and
a Government Technical Officer were killed in a claymore mine
explosion carried out by the LTTE at Manipay in Jaffna. The terrorists
carried out another claymore blast yesterday (September 27) at
Chunnakam killing four civilians and injuring 13 civilians.
