SL navy ships have sunk three ships transporting weapons to the LTTE terrorists in the South East of Dondra Head Sea last night (September 10). According to the available information the three ships were carrying, heavy mortar guns, multi barrel rocket launchers, aircraft spare parts, large stocks of ammunition, fuel etc.

The attack came in the wake of arrest of Kumaran Padmanadan alias "KP", LTTE's chief in charge of the global procurement network.

In this year Sri Lanka navy has destroyed six LTTE ships which attempted to smuggle weapons to the Island. Defence observers say that the Navy's success is mainly due to the improvements made to Naval intelligence department after present Commander of the Navy Rear Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda took over the office.
