At least 19 LTTE terrorists were killed and 9 others reported wounded during battles ensued between troops and LTTE in general area Akkarayankulama, in the Southwestern perimeters of Kilinochchi on Tuesday (Oct 7), according to Wanni military sources.

Hours long fighting was reported in the area military said, adding that heavy artillery were engaged, further pushing LTTE elements from the Akkarayankulama Tank bund. The LTTE casualties are expected to soar as troops claimed to have repulsed an LTTE counter attack East of Akkarayankulama. 13 terrorists were killed and 9 injured in the fighting ground sources said citing intercepted LTTE communication. 2 soldiers also have laid their lives in the fighting, Wanni military sources said.

Meanwhile, 4 terrorists were reported killed during fighting with security forces Northeast of Akkarayankulama, in addition to 2 others killed sniped West of Akkarayankulama.
