Tamil people have rejected terrorism says Karuna

TMVP leader Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran alias Karuna was sworn in as a Member of Parliament before speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara in Parliament on Tuesday.

He was named for a vacant seat of national list of the UPFA.

The Elections Secretariat said this appointment was directed for gazette notification yesterday. MPs of the JVP, UNP and the TNA were not seen in the lobby when Karuna was sworn in. Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivanessathurai Chandrakanthan also witnessed the event at the Parliamentary Gallery.
Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran speaking after the swearing in said Tamil people have rejected terrorism and trusted on parliamentary democracy.

He described his appointment as an MP by the President as a gesture of respect to the Tamil people. Development in the eastern province came to a standstill due to the two decade long war in the area.
The President has now undertaken the responsibility to restore democracy and development in the province. Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran also called for the support of international community for the on going massive development drive in the area.
