An LTTE light wing air craft dropped two improvised bombs
at the Kelani-Tissa power station in the outskirts of
Colombo, Tuesday (Oct 28) around midnight.
According to available information, the blasts have caused
minor damages to the premises. Ceylon Electricity Board
(CEB) officials said that a cooler connected to the gas
turbine power generator caught fire and was immediately
extinguished by the Colombo fire brigade who arrived at
the site instantly. A CEB employee sustained minor injuries
and was admitted to the General Hospital at Colombo.
Earlier, at around 10.20p.m., three bombs were reported
dropped from LTTE air craft at the Thallady military camp
in Mannar. No major damages were caused due to the explosions,
security sources said, adding that a soldier has sustained
injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, an Air Port aviation official at Katunayake
speaking to defence.lk said that, 2 passenger air craft
were diverted to Chennai aerodrome until the situation
was brought immediately under control.
