An Indian delegation will arrive to Sri Lanka on power issue

An Indian delegation will arrive in the country within the next two weeks to discuss plans on setting up power transmission line between the two countries. The power transmission line will be constructed connecting Madurei in India and Thalaimannar. Minister of Power and Energy W.D.J. Seneviratne says feasibility studies in this connection have already concluded. Construction of the power line will commence early next year. Sri Lanka hopes to obtain electricity supply from India to meet the demand until the power plants in Norochcholai, Upper Kotmale and Kelawarapitiya generates electricity at their full capacity.
