8 Tamil civilians including 2 children fleeing from LTTE
clutches sought protection with security forces at Pulmoddai,
North of Trincomalee, Tuesday (Oct 28) at around 7.30a.m.
According to security sources, the civilians belonging
to 3 families from Silawatta area, Mullaittivu, had arrived
in two boats, who are said to have undergone immense hardships
at the hands of LTTE.
The group included 5 women and two infants, a one year
old and another just over 2 years of age. They had left
Silawatta area at 4.45a.m., despite danger posed from
both LTTE craft and the choppy eastern coastal waters,
security sources further said.
The civilians were directed to the welfare center established
for IDPs at Pulmoddai.
