13 civilians reach to security forces fleeing LTTE held areas

Thirteen civilians of 5 families from LTTE held areas in Mullaittivu district have sought protection with security forces this morning, 23 October, at Pulmuddai.

According to the available sources, 9 males, 3 females and one child are among the escapees who reached the Pulmuddai from LTTE held Veththalakerni, Mullaittivu around 11.00 a.m via sea routs.

The escapees have told that they have to undergo untold hardships as a result of LTTE activities, including extortion and conscription of youngsters.

However, signs emanating from the Wanni indicate that civilians are ready to flee the clutches of the LTTE at any moment as dozens of civilians are fleeing Wanni on a daily basis.
