Thirty-nine Tamil civilians including fourteen women and twelve children from un-cleared area of Mullaittivu sought refuge with security forces this morning, 14 October.

Despite the LTTE's restrictions and obstacles, these civilians from Mullivaikkal area have reached the security forces in Pulmoddai around 9.30 a.m today. Thirteen men are among the escapees. Meals and other basic needs have already been provided before the arrangements made to relocate them.

These innocent civilians underwent severe hardships from the LTTE have crossed the Mullaittivu seas on two boats having risk on their lives.

The civilians were later directed to an IDP centre after completing initial investigations.
