Minister Kumara Welgama says so far 23 industrial zones have been set up this year. Around 15 thousand employment opportunities have been generated through these projects. 188 factories of these industrial zones have commenced their operations and another 58 are under construction. Minister Welgama revealed this information during a progress evaluation meeting held at the Ministry recently. Construction of the Buttala, Galigamuwa and Embilipitiya Industrial Zones will be completed next year. The Ministry said that over six thousand persons will get jobs at these industrial zones.
