Sri Lanka Navy once again rescued yet another Tamil family who were fleeing from the barbarous clutches of LTTE close to Veththelekerni on the 11th of October around 0615 hrs.

Sri Lanka Navy Patrol Craft on constant surveillance in the seas off Vettilikerni spotted an unidentified boat leaving the shores of Veththelekerni and promptly reacted and intercepted the same, and rescued the personnel on board after confirming that the boat was carrying innocent people fleeing from LTTE grip.

The family consisted of six, father and mother aged 44 and 42 years, two sons aged 22 and 14 years and two daughters aged 19 and 17 years had fled Tallaidy due to unbearable atrocities of LTTE , on-board a fiber glass dinghy (FGB) fitted with an out-board motor (OBM).

They were provided with their basic needs and other requirements on being rescued by the SLN. Subsequently they revealed that they had fled the area as they could no longer bear up the inhumane torture, hardships and pain inflicted on them by the so called ‘saviours’ of the Sri Lankan Tamils- the LTTE led by despot Prabhakaran, and they wanted to enjoy the freedom their brethrens enjoy in the government controlled areas.

The father who broke down several times during his narration of their miserable life story disclosed that LTTE had tried several times to forcefully conscript his young son, a youth who has been selected to the university and his daughters of whom one has just completed her A/L and the other who is studying for her A/L . However, they had been able to escape narrowly each time from being captured by the brutal LTTE because of their witty measures taken even at the risk of their won skin.

He further revealed that there are a large number of innocent people who are even septuagenarian irrespective of age , being forcefully engaged in securing bunkers and digging long stretched ditches, constructing bunkers and multitude of other severe hard work relentlessly which if they deny to carry out cause them unheard of torture and eventual death.

Another inhumane act of LTTE that was unfolded in the revelation is that the innocent people in LTTE held area, are deprived of their humanitarian support intended by the government in its ever increasing concern towards the innocent people concerned. As such LTTE plunder the food items and other material given to them by the government and subsequently sell them again to the same people again at a price which is hardly affordable for them.

Summarily, the father of the family said that they were living in constant fear of being conscripted and harassed and therefore he fled along with his family from LTTE grip, to seek the protection of the government to turn an new leaf in life rather than getting tortured and devastated his children's future at the blood stained cruel hand of the LTTE which is about to be eradicated from this land by the valiant military forces of Sri Lanka- the true guardians of the peace loving people of this country.
