Local Police say several special teams are investigating on Thursday Suicide blast at the Pirivena junction in Boralesgamuwa in Thursday evening.

The bomber targeted a Minister Maithreepala Sirisena. Minister Sirisena who was returning from a function in Bandaragama. The attack was carried out by a female suicide bomber. Even though she blasted herself targeting the vehicle carrying Minister Maithreepala Sirisena the targeted vehicle had already passed the place. Therefore, the Minister was unharmed.

Deputy Minister Siripala Gamlath received minor injuries in the blast. Eight others received injuries. Secretary to the Agriculture Ministry Ranjith Wijethilaka is among those critically injured.
