Sri Lanka Cricket's greed for money has no end. For the three ODIs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, SLC has even sold the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation commentary box for English spectators. SLC has priced tickets for the SLBC commentary box at Rs.3000 per head.

For the first ODI on Monday, SLBC aired its commentaries from the box, but SLC's Tour Organizing Committee Chairman Shibly Wilcasim at the venue yesterday, the day before the second ODI, ordered ground staff to remove the SLBC label that was pasted on the door of box as he had already sold the SLBC Commentary Box.

From the day the first ODI match was played at the Dambulla Stadium in 2001, SLBC had aired its commentaries from this box next to the Press Box, but in an unprecedented move cricket officials had even sold the SLBC Commentary Box.

What's more amusing is that SLBC is one of the official right holders of Sri Lanka Cricket and has paid to air commentaries. When it was pointed out to Wilcasim that shifting of the SLBC Commentary Box will land him in trouble he shot back saying that he's deaf to criticism.

Wilcasim was appointed as the Tour Organizing Committee Chairman by Interim Committee Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa and the appointment has been one that has been highly criticized in cricket circles.

The problem with officials such as Dharmadasa and Wilcasim is that they have got to the helm of Sri Lanka Cricket by going behind politicians and are not responsible to anyone and as a result often come up with ill advised acts such as these.
