Sri Lanka team was 269 for the lost of seven wickets at the end of the inning toady (01) against visiting England team. The top scorer for Sri Lanka was the captain with 66 runs while Sanath Jayasuriya added another fast 41 runs to the score board in just 35 deliveries.

Upul Tharanga added another 40 runs to Sri Lanka’s total to strengthen the inning.

In the blowing attack all the three English key bowlers-Paul Collingwood, Ryan Sidebottom, Stuart Broad took two wickets each.

After winning the toss Sri Lankan captain elected to bat first.

Sri Lanka is without a talisman after Muttiah Muralitharan was ruled out of at least the first three matches with a bicep injury. But in recent years they have shown to be much more than a one-man team and in their own backyard are one of the toughest challenges in the game.
