Australian leg spinner Shane Warne says he's not fussed about
Muthiah Muralidaran taking over as Test cricket's top wicket taker
during Sri Lanka's tour of Australia.
Warne,
in Hong Kong as skipper of the All-Stars team playing in the Sixes
tournament, was asked if he was unhappy to lose the title.
"No,
good luck to him," he said.
"It's
been nice to hold it for three or four years. I hope that the
Aussie batsmen can make it a little bit hard for him.
"Look,
at the end of the day, I've played my style of cricket and all
the wickets and those sorts of things are nice, but I've always
thought it's more about the way you play the game, the spirit
in which you play.
"I
think I've been an entertainer for 15 or 16 years and like to
think I'll leave a legacy that I've entertained people and never
given up and been pretty competitive.
"As
for the record, I said about 10 years ago that Murali would get
1000 wickets. Good luck to him."
Warne
is showing his usual passion at the Sixes with his new-found All-Stars
teammates.
"We've
got a really good bunch of guys," he said. "Watching
Brian Lara and McGrath and Kumble and these guys, when you throw
in Heath Streak, Craig McMillan and Geraint Jones, we've got a
bloody good squad with a good team spirit and we've played some
pretty good cricket.
"Watching
Brian brings back some bad memories of actually bowling to him.
"It's
the first time I've played in the Hong Kong Sixes. Everyone's
been very hospitable, they've made us feel welcome. It's been
a really good fun weekend." |
