Mount Lavinia magistrate Darshika Wimalasiri ordered to further remand Malaka Silva, the son of Sri Lanka Minister of Labor Mervin Silva until October 17.

The Minister's son is in custody for assaulting an accountant on his head with a revolver butt at a nightclub in Bambalapitiya police area. Bambalapitiya police informed the court that preliminary investigations are completed and the report is submitted to Attorney General.

However, the bail application for the suspect was rejected by the Magistrate.

President's Counsel Daya Perera appearing for the defense protested the prison's failure to produce the suspect on time for the case leading the Magistrate to reprimand the relevant officials. She urged them to produce the suspect as soon as the case was called.
