Vernon
Achilles is the Oldest Surviving Wesleyite and also the
Oldest Y.M.C.A. Member and is possibly the oldest Sri Lankan Gentleman
in Australia. He is currently a resident at the RADFORD PRIVATE
NURSING HOME, Radford Road, RESERVOIR.
Vernon was educated at Wesley College, Colombo & worked in
the Ceylon Government Railway for 37 years.
He migrated with his wife Dulcie in 1978, where he was Caretaker
of a local school in Broadmeadows, for 11 years. Dulcie
died in 1995 - Vernon is the Father of Dallas,
Dalrene (Pompeus), Orianna and
Delmer & has 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
He is very well-known among the Senior Sri Lankans residing in
Australia.
