LTTE
terrorists were believed to sustain heavy casualties when troops
crippled an LTTE advance today (17) evening, at defence lines
north of Uyliankulam, Mannar, said security sources.
The
limited encounter between forces and LTTE sprung amidst hostile
weather conditions affected by continuing torrential rain falls.
Troops engaged heavy artillery shell attacks, thrusting LTTE elements
to flee deep into non-liberated Wanni patches in Adampan area,
security sources said.
Reports
obtained through intercepted LTTE communication revealed heavy
losses to terrorists though exact figures were not available at
the moment, added security sources.
