JVP MP Mr. Sunil Handunneththi filed a petition in Supreme Court yesterday to say that the draft appropriation bill tabled on 10th Oct. is unlawful.

Attorney General has been named the respondent in this petition.

He solicits a court order to declare that this bill is unconstitutional for the consolidated fund to be used for other purposes, which is contrary to the constitution.

The petition also requests that the appropriation bill, if passed, be required to obtain 2/3 majority in parliament and tested in a referendum.
