Latest
intelligence reports of the Security Forces said on Tuesday (09)
that an estimated total of sixty-nine (69) LTTE terrorists were
killed following two separate aerial and artillery attacks at
Chempankundu, Poonaryn on 25th September 2007 while a rehearsal
of an LTTE Passing out Parade was in progress.
Following
specific information, Air Force fighter craft around 12.00 noon
on that day struck the target forcing the terrorists to run in
all directions. Again the same evening (25th) around 4.30 p.m.
a volume of heavy artillery fire, directed by ground troops of
the Army caused further losses and damages, preventing them from
proceeding with the event any further.
Reports
further reaffirmed that several LTTE leaders were in attendance
at the occasion.
