The
inaugural session of the above series was conducted under the
auspices of the Anandians of NSW and ACT at Pennant Hills community
centre on 28th October 2007.
The
convenor Mr. Kithsiri Senadeera explained to
the audience the need for a forum in our community to present
their views on topics of current interest and contemporary value.
The
speaker Dr. Jayantha Ruberu delivered the Talk
on ‘Buddhism and Modern Science’. Dr. Ruberu explained
some main features of Buddhist Philosophy such the ‘Law
of impermanence’ ‘Paticca Samuppada’ and related
them to the concepts of modern science. The talk was very informative
and thought-provoking and well received by the audience
Several
questions and comments were made by the audience. Dr.
Senaviratne Banda and Dr. Don Wickrama
participated in the panel discussion along with Dr. Ruberu.
Mr.
Samiddha Gunasekera Vice President of the OBA
presented the vote of thanks. The meeting was well attended.
