A ministry official speaking to defence.lk said that a Tamil woman who was also a Polio handicapped has come to the Public Relation Office of the Ministry this morning to meet Minster Douglas Devananda.

"Since it is the public day of the Ministry, the Minister is supposed to meet the public. The Public Relation Officer (PRO) and two security personnel when tried to question the women , she blew herself up" , he said.

Three persons the PRO, a police sub inspector attached to Ministerial Security Division and a personal bodyguard of Minister Devananda have suffered serious injuries in the attack and admitted to the National Hospital Colombo. Hospital sources revealed, Mr. Stephen Peries, the PRO of the ministry has succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other two victims is stable, the sources added.

Minister Douglas Devananda has been in the LTTE's assassination list ever since he came in to the mainstream politics. He is the leader of the Eelam Peoples' Democratic Party (EPDP), one of the main political parties that represent the rights of Tamil speaking people in Sri Lanka. Minster Douglas who had once fought against Sri Lankan government shoulder to shoulder with LTTE Chief Prbahkaran later resorted to the democratic stream of politics renouncing the gruesome crimes committed by the LTTE. So far, LTTE has made eight attempts on Minister Devananda's life.

LTTE is a terrorist outfit that fights for an ethnically pure, separate homeland for the Tamils on the Sri Lankan soil since 1983. Led by its psychopathic leader, V. Prbhakaran, the outfit has carried out many terrorists attacks against civilian targets killing tens and thousand of people.

Using young Tamil women as suicide bombers has been one of the most favored terror tactics of the so-called liberator chief of the Tamils. Initial investigations into the incident show that LTTE had set the explosives around the woman's breast, deviating from their usual tactic of placing explosive in the lower abdominal areas of "suicide" girls.

Yesterday, in his annual threatening speech against Sri Lankan people , terror chief V. Prbhakaran demanded 80 million Tamil people around the world to support him to create his utopian state at the expense of 19 million people in Sri Lanka.
