Worship the Mayor of Beitunia, with the blessings of H.E.President
Mahmoud Abbas named the road in front of Sri
Lanka Mission in Palestine as H.E.MAHINDA RAJAPAKSA
ROAD on 18th November the birth day of H.E.President
Rajapaksa.
The road was ceremonially opened by his Worship the Mayor
of Beitunia Municipal Council Hon.Arafat Khalaf
and Dr.T.Jayasinghe, Representative
of Sri Lanka in Palestine. The Mayor in his speech stated
that the people of Palestine are honouring the President
of Sri Lanka as he had fought for the rights of the Palestians
for the last 30 yeaqrs and even at the last U.N.Assembly
sessions he was the only leader to speak in support of
Palestine.He further stated that he as President of Sri
Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine he had rendered
a great service in educating the masses. November 18th
being his birth day the Mayor wished President Rajapaksa
many happy returns of the day.
Dr. T.Jayasinghe in his speech thanked the Mayor for taking
the initiative in naming the road to honour President
of Sri Lanka and also President of the State of Palestine
H.E.Mahmoud Abbas for his blessings and directions to
open the road on the birth day of our President.
The meeting was followed by a reception hosted by the
Mayor . The birthday cake was cut by the Mayor and Sri
Lanka Representative Dr. Jayasinghe with all wishing a
happy birthday the President of Sri Lanka.
