Sri Lanka Army troops responding to increased LTTE infiltration bids attacked LTTE bunker line at Periyathampanai on Wanni forward defence line (FDL) this morning.

According to the defence sources in Wanni, troops overran and destroyed one LTTE bunker around 8 a.m. Unable to withstand the Army firepower terrorists took flight leaving the bunker to the soldiers. One soldier was also killed in the incident.

During the subsequent search troops found six bodies of female LTTE cadres in the area. Later, the bodies have been taken to Government Hospital Vavuniya. The sources said that steps would be taken to handover the bodies to LTTE through ICRC.
