Security forces personnel on foot patrol confronted with a group of LTTE cadres in general area Vavunavilluwa in Siththaru, south of Trincomalee, this afternoon, May 06.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm, sources said.

According to the available information, LTTE terrorists have suffered heavy damages, though casualty figures remained unverified. Meanwhile, two soldiers have also received minor injuries during the confrontation, defence sources added.
