Government
of Sri Lanka has registered with New South Wales parliament
its deep concern over using the floor of NSW parliament
for a book presentation which is to be held on next Tuesday
by the Centre for Just Peace and Democracy ( CJPD) for
promoting terrorism by discrediting government of Sri
Lanka on current armed conflict between Government of
Sri Lanka and the LTTE,
We
have already contacted the speaker of the NSW Parliament
and I have written to both the Premier of New South Wales
and the Speaker expressing our government’s concern
over the issue, Gothami Indikadahena, the Sri Lankan Consul
General in Sydney said.
When
I contacted the parliament I was told that this event
should be sponsored by a Member of NSW parliament otherwise
rooms of parliament are not issued to the people for private
activities, Indikadahena further said.
Our
Government works on international norms and conducts.
That is why we have great respect from Australian general
public. I understand that our case has been supported
by general public.
Asian
Tribune learnt that many New South Wales constituents
have already contacted their respective Members of Parliaments
asking them to stop happening this meeting in NSW parliament
as the scheduled event can be used by LTTE to mislead
international community that they have support from NSW
parliament.
