Signifying
a milestone in Sri Lanka’s history of technology,
the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission plans to launch
the first ever satellite in near future, renowned scientist
Dr. Chandana jayaratne said.
The
contribution of foreign expertise will also be sought
in this effort.
According
to Dr. Jayarathna, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has approved
the launch of a satellite and the initial measures in
this regard have already commenced.
The
satellite is expected to be named after ‘Sir Arthur
C.Clark’ in respect of the world’s space guru
who spent his later life in Sri Lanka.
