An army soldier was killed due to a claymore explosion carried out by the LTTE terrorists in general area Bakmitiyawa in Ampara this morning, May 23.

According to the available information terrorists have triggered off this claymore mine targeting an army foot patrol around 6.30 am.

A search operation is now being conducted in the area, sources added.
