Sri Lanka Air Force MI-24 helicopter gun ships raided an LTTE tactical operation centre located in general area Andankulam in Mannar front last night, May 17.

Air force spokesperson, Wing Commander Andrew Wijesooriya, speaking to defence.lk said that air sorties were carried out around 11.05 p.m targeting an LTTE tactical operation centre located about 3km north from the security forces' defence in Mannar front.

According to the initial ground fire experienced by the pilots it is believed that a large gathering of LTTE cadres was there when the time the target was hit, spokesperson added.
