A tractor carrying special Task Forces (STF) troops was caught in an LTTE triggered a claymore mine in Kokadycholai, Batticaloa on Sunday the 06th of May, at around 9.00 a.m.

Military sources said that, the tractor was just passing the Manalpitiya junction when the explosion occurred killing two STF personnel and injuring five others on the vehicle.

The injured were rushed to the General Hospital at Batticaloa. The Batticaloa Hospital sources said that a STF trooper succumbed to his injuries on admission.

Further search operations were carried in the area.
