Tigers face heavy defeats against SLN strong retaliations

Late night the Navy destroyed two LTTE boats at Pulmudai. Twenty six Sea Tiger boats were moving in the seas southward off Pulmudai and opened fire at the Naval Fast Attack Crafts (FACs).

The Navy in retaliation destroyed two LTTE boats heavily damaging another six boats of the group. Naval sources believe eight to twelve Sea Tigers were killed during the clash, according to the information collected through intercepted LTTE communications. It is also reported that fifteen to twenty LTTE cardres have sustained injuries.

SLN FACs continued attack on fleeing LTTE boats until they landed at Alampali. Two Naval persons sustained minor injuries, Sri Lanka Navy states.

In this milieu in the Northwestern seas of the island, LTTE have made a desperate attempt to transfer some of its leaders and cardres confined in the Peraru jungles – in the eastern part of the island – towards North via sea, Navy reports.

Naval troops deployed on the land intercepted this movement and confronted ensuing in a battle on the land as well, SLN further adds.

In this scenario, two fishermen were killed and three were injured due to LTTE attacks. The wounded were transferred to the Trincomalee General Hospital.

Intercepted Tiger communications have revealed that LTTE Sea Tiger leader Soosai have directed this movement, SLN reports state.

On fleeing Sea Tigers have left behind, two boxes of pressure mine fuses – 50 Nos. in each, 18 claymore mines, one communication set, three LTTE crypto-code sheets, three 5kg claymore mines and one disposable rocket propeller grenade and a launcher.
