Lord Mayor John So was host to a Presentation and Cocktail Reception at the Melbourne City Council Chambers on Thursday 3rd May when he highlighted the post Tsunami work the Melbourne City Council had done in Sri Lanka. Members of Help Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Association of Victoria and Australia Sri Lanka Medical Aid Team were invited guests. The Hon. K Balapatabendi PC Sri Lanka High Commissioner in Canberra was the chief guest. Melbourne City Council had enlisted the support of SLA and Help SL in the rebuilding of a Tsunami damaged school at Dickwella and the donation of mobile libraries to southern Sri Lanka. Nihal de Run - Chairman of Help SL and Shiranee Sinnathamby of SLAV - spoke of the great sense of fullfilment and purpose that these organizations had felt when they were present at the opening ceremony of the school at Dickwella in southern Sri Lanka. David Cruse and Quintus de Zylva later hosted the Sri Lanka High Commissioner to dinner.
