LTTE wants Omanthai entry-exit point kept closed
Omanthai entry -exit point remained closed for the fourth day as the discussions between the ICRC officials and the LTTE heads held in Kilinochchi had apparently failed yesterday (25).
The senior ICRC officials who arrived at the Omanthai roadblock after meeting with the LTTE heads said that the ICRC would submit a detail report on the matters discussed with the LTTE to the government.
However, the ICRC officials continued to keep their office at Omanthai closed indicating that the LTTE had not ensured their safety. The ICRC officials had to withdrew their offices form Omanthai and Ulliyankulam on Tuesdays (22) as the LTTE terrorists launched Mortar attacks at the two roadblocks. A civilian vehicle was also fired up on by the terrorists as it sped towards the Omanthai roadblock to escape the LTTE grip.
Meanwhile, reliable sources have revealed that the LTTE is trying to keep the Wanni civilians in captivity in order to cover up its tyrannical rule in the un-liberated areas. Arbitrary executions, torture and abductions have become the order of the day in Wanni as the civilians are continuing to distance themselves form the LTTE.
