SL army kept the Omanthai entry-exit point open for about five hours since this morning despite the terror mortar threat. This was the first time that the main southern entrance to the un-liberated areas in Wanni was opned since its closure on Thursday (17). The roadblocks at Omanthai and Ulliyankulam had to close down due to heavy mortar fire of the LTTE terrorists since Thursday.
Three ambulances with patients were taken in to the liberated areas and nine bodies of LTTE cadres found by the security forces were sent to the un-liberated area with the assistance of the ICRC.
One of the patient coming in the cleared area had said that the LTTE had forcibly taken over the Kilinochchi government hospital and using the hospital facilities to treat its wounded.
"There is hardly any room or medicine for the civilians; they (LTTE) had chased away all civilian patents out of the hospital" he said. |
