A lorry apprehended with 479 I-com sets - Vavuniya

A suspicious lorry, plying from Colombo to Vavuniya, which was carrying 479 I-Com sets and 30 GPS (Global Positioning System), was apprehended by the Police this afternoon, Saturday the 12 th of May.

These I-Com sets and GPSs were packed inside 32 TVs carrying in the lorry, defence sources said.

The vigilant Police personnel on duty at the Irrattaperiyakulam road block on Colombo - Vavuniya main road were able to uncover these items as the TVs did not function properly when they were checked.

These brand new communication equipments were to be transport to the LTTE, defence sources further said.

Two suspects, the driver of the lorry and his subordinate, were taken in to the Police custody and further investigations are being conducted by the Police.
